Southern McLean ends season with decisive victory

The first year of the Southern McLean Roughrider co-op came to a close on Friday and it seems like the team adopted the phrase “go out with a bang” because they went all out against the opponent, the Standing Rock Warriors. Southern McLean had a breakout 38-point second quarter, scoring three times on offense and twice off of interception returns. Combine that with a complete shutdown of the Standing Rock offense, only allowing 25 total yards and the Roughriders finished their season on a high note, 54-0. “The Warrior defense put eight defenders up on the line of scrimmage forcing us to go to the passing game. Brett Schreiner responded with his second straight impressive game passing the football,” said Southern McLean Head Coach Pete Moe. Schreiner was the delivery man for the team’s first three touchdowns in the game, the first by hooking up with Monty Johnson on a 7-yard pass in the first quarter. The next two opened the second quarter. A delivery to Drew Kamrath for a 25-yard score was followed up an 18-yard touchdown to Sam Goos. Schreiner went an impressive 13-16 for a total of 212 yards on the game.
