The Washburn Cardinals lost against the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks in game 3 on the opening night of Region 5 Boys Basketball in Bismarck Monday.
Skyhawks proved to be a tough matchup for the Cardinals. During the first quarter of the regional game, the boys were able to keep just behind the Skyhawks thanks to a handful of two pointers. Karter Hansen cashed in a three pointer to keep the Cardinals alive to end the first 16-11, Skyhawks.
After warming up in the first, Shiloh turned on the engines in the second quarter. The Skyhawks seemed to continuously get a hand on the ball whether it was a broken up pass, block or turnover. The Cardinals only managed to scrape together eight points for the quarter. Dylan Williams and Turner Grumbo each managed to score a two along with Matthew Leidholm cashing a three. Skyhawks go into halftime with a convincing lead of 43-19.
