Royals work past Cardinals
Washburn ladies weren’t able to hold off South Prairie-Max during a weekend game at the Cardinal home court. The Royals and Cardinals had some back and forth during the girls’ game in Washburn Saturday, when both teams spent the first half battling for the lead. South Prairie-Max starters would take turns tallying twos during the first quarter, with five of the Royals each making a basket from the paint. Washburn would have less luck with field goals, taking just a pair of twos in the first. Cardinal Ashlyn Schmitz would scoop up some extra points at the free throw line on Royal fouls, helping Washburn keep the game close.
