The conditions weren’t very hospitable at Friday night’s home game with the Southern McLean Roughriders facing the Heart River Cougars.

Part rain and part slush, the calamity that fell from the sky that evening created conditions that made consistent play on the field very difficult for both sides.

The result was a number of turnovers and miscues on both sides, but Heart River weathered the storm much more effectively, scoring 36 unanswered points to finish out the 44-6 defeat of Southern McLean.

The Roughriders started off on a positive foot, but couldn’t get that little extra they needed to bring it all the way.

"We started the game out on offense well, we drove the ball and saw some good things; but we couldn’t connect on a fourth down try so our drive ended," said Southern McLean head coach Richard Bjerklie.
