The Southern McLean Roughriders played their last game of the season at home against the Heart River Cougars on Friday. Despite the close battle, the Cougars took the game 18-12.
The Roughriders started the game with a kickoff to the Cougars. The opposition made strong plays, including a 21
yard return, before switching off to the Roughriders. Senior Hunter Klindtworth made multiple successful runs
throughout the first quarter, alternating between 5 and 6 yards. The two teams rotated back and forth, neither scoring
in the first quarter.
Starting off the second quarter, the Cougars made consistent runs for 5 to 6 yards, but were unable to score and resorted to punting. The Roughriders followed the same path. The Cougars intercepted a pass, and ended the second quarter with Heart River in possession, but the scoreboard remained empty.
