Roughrider Cross Country is wrapping up its season, with girls taking 16th at State and boys wrapping up with 21st.
Coach Laura Tweeten said half of the boys competing at State Cross Country in Jamestown Saturday were there for the first time. Each of the boys set a personal record during the race, with senior Coltan Hyttinen leading the group.
“Coltan earned All-State by placing 20th,” Tweeten said. “He had to fight for that spot during the whole race.”
The boys team placed 21st out of 47 teams. Girls took 16th out of 46 competing teams, with Brynn Hyttinen taking 82nd overall.
“ I was very proud of her to end her season with a great run,” Tweeten said. “This was by far her best race.”
Tweeten said Brynn ran the race with a stabbing pain in her side, but that she toughed it out. The other star of the girls team was Grace Boysun, who took 68th in the girls race.
