The best of the best in the world of Track and Field were in Bismarck for the State Meet over the weekend. Those athletes from Southern McLean that earned the right to be on hand for the big event turned in a number of good results to be honored near the top in their respective events. “We were very pleased with all of the athletes’ performances. There were some events that we wished would have gone a little better, but everybody did their best and competed well,” said Southern McLean Coach Shayla Sinclair. The team of Haley Filipek, Alyssa Kadrmas, Kate Fox, and Abigail Waloch had smashed a long standing program record that dated back to 1996 by a whopping 24 seconds at the Regional two weeks ago and came into State looking for the program’s first 3200m Relay award ever. They managed to pull it off with an 8th place finish. “Alyssa Kadrmas is a senior and this was her first time getting an award, so that was a special one,” said Coach Sinclair.
