Raiders fight off the Roughriders

The Southern McLean Roughriders welcomed the Richardton-Taylor/Hebron (RTH) Raiders to Washburn’s football field on Friday. Despite a highly competitive homecoming contest for the home team, the Raiders secured the win 34-30.
Upon receiving the kickoff, senior Hunter Klindtworth ran 16 yards fol lowed by another run for 6 yards. The Roughriders continued to advance with runs, but an incomplete pass sent the ball to the Raiders. RTH started with a 6 yard run of their own, but didn’t gain any yards after that.
After the Raiders’ punt, freshman Alex Retterath caught an incredible 76 yard pass by senior Caden Germundson. Klindtworth made another run for 10 yards, and a pass from Germundson to fellow senior Preston Beckman for 6 yards scored the first touchdown of the night. The point after pass was incomplete, and the first quarter ended 6-0.
