Post 12 team looking good for sectional

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Washburn Post 12 Legion players got a good look at their top competition last week when they played Hazen and Beach. One more tough game against Beulah on Tuesday night would be a good indicator of how the team will fair at the sectional tournament next week. In the first game against Beach last week it was all Post 12 as they smoothed out Beach in a 14-0 win . Post 12 bats were cracking out 15 hits from Chance Kurle and Kirk Sailer who each had home runs. Kurle was 3-for-4 in the game and Sailer, Ryan Mlekoday and Jesse Henke all went 2-for-3. With Kirk Sailer holding Beach to one hit there was no way Beach could keep up. In game two, Washburn started out strong with four runs in the first inning. That would be all for them until a single run in the sixth inning. Beach kept pace in this game and had their chance to tie thing s up but failed to get any runs after the fifth inning. The game ended 5-3 with Post 12 earning the win.
