Post 12 starting strong

The Washburn Legion Post 12 team kicked off their season last week with a set of victories, overcoming both Mandan and Stanley.
Post 12 players faced off against Mandan June 6 in their season opener, and met each of their opponent’s runs with two of their own. Washburn would take 11 hits during the game, and allow Stanley only six. Post 12 would take the 8-4 victory in the first game.
Dylan Kaul would go three for four at bats, with Trevor Schreiner and Kurt Dickhut each going two for four. The team would lose the second game of the night by a single run, down 4-5.
The team would come up against Mandan next, taking the June 8 game in a close battle. Washburn would out-bat Mandan, with 14 hits to their opponent’s 8, but struggled to score proportionally. Washburn would eventually pull ahead and secure a narrow win at 10-9.
