Post 12 entered last Wednesday’s road game against Beulah with a bit of confidence. Post 12 swept Beulah the first time both teams met, but the games were close. This time around Beulah got one win in the doubleheader.
Beulah won the more important seven inning Class A West Region counter 11-1 and lost the non-counter 5-1. Hunter Jacobs started for Post 12 as pitcher and faced Beulah’s Alec Battest in the first game. Neither pitcher allowed a run in the first two innings.
Battest pitched another strong inning in the top of the third keeping Washburn scoreless. But Jacobs couldn’t keep pace in the bottom frame after striking off the leadoff batter.
Jacobs struck out Hunter Eslinger, but wasn’t ready for Beulah’s next move. Beulah Head Coach Ryan Bodell called for a one-out bunt by Hayden Norton. Norton made it safely to first and then stole second during Battest’s at-bat to avoid a double play.
