The legion baseball team headed to Omaha riding high after sweeping their schedule of conference games the previous week. The boys played well but fell short not able to get a win in a tough field of teams.
"I thought we played relatively well throughout the tourney despite going 0-4. The teams we played were equivalent to class AA in North Dakota. We just couldn't get that key hit or finish games," head coach Dirk Hausauer said after the tournament.
The first game, Post 12’s matchup was with the local team of Omaha Burke. They played extremely well outhitting Burke 10 to 6 but couldn’t get a string of hits when they needed them. 7 players tallied hits led by Karson Backer going 3-4 with a double. Zach Zenker also went 2-2 but Post 12 fell to Burke 7-5.
Game 2 featured a team that traveled about the same distance as Post 12 from Cache, Oklahoma. Despite having no errors this game and getting the same number of hits as Cache they fell short by the same score as the previous game 7-5. Trevor Schreiner would pitch and five players combined for the 10 hits, led by Zach Zenker going 3-4.
