Post 12 played two counter games against Harvey on July 2.
Starting on the mound for Post 12 was Reed Backman, who immediately struck out the first batter. The following batter hit to second baseman Owen Patterson, who threw him out at first. Harvey’s third batter hit the ball to shortstop and was safe at first. Harvey’s fourth batter struck out swinging.
Leading off for Post 12 was left fielder Landre Sondrol, who would walk to first. Trey Koski would bat next, and would take a hit, earning himself a free base. Backman would bat third, and would walk, loading the bases. Catcher Lyle Whitley would hit past the left fielder, hitting in Sondrol and Koski. Shortstop Tyler Kulzer would sacrifice bunt to run Backman in, but would strike out. Landyn Miller and Peyton Hall would strike out, ending the inning.
Post 12 did not mess around the second inning. Backman would strike out three batters in a row, sending his team to the plate. Tristan Jacobson would lead off, but would strike out. Patterson would bat next and walk to first. Sondrol would hit a caught foul ball, taking the second out for Post 12. Koski batted next, and would also walk. Backman would hit to second base, but the hit would be fumbled, allowing the runners to advance. Whitley hit to shortstop, earning another run for Post 12. Kulzer would bat last for Post 12, and would be called out at first, but not before Koski would run into home.
