Post 12 baseball to play hard ball to tourney time
By Michael Johnson, Editor
The timing of summer storms has plagued the Post 12 baseball season so far. But if the weather can hold out this week, the team has a chance to pull to the top of the section. They continue their whirl-wind schedule this week. The team was able to put together four games in the last week, two July 7 against Beulah and two against Hettinger. After a storm and some time off for the Fourth of July, the team stumbled into a well prepared Beulah team. Beulah came out swinging with 4 runs in the first inning and another 10 runs in the third inning. That kept the team of Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton from coming back. They lost to Beulah in the first game by a score of 6-16. Coach Kip Erickson points to the team’s 10 errors as a good indication of why the loss came about. They soon turned that around. By game two the team figured out how to play Beulah’s game by scoring the first 2 points. After a game of back and forth, the Beulah boys just got more hits and came ahead winning 6-5.
