Washburn White went to Beulah on Monday for a doubleheader against the Beulah Twisters and dropped two games.
The Twisters had home park advantage and didn’t let Washburn White take it away from them, winning the first game 4-0 and the second game 5-3.
The first game pitted the Beulah Twisters’ starting pitcher, Bryaden Nelson, against Washburn White’s starting pitcher, Kolby Yantzer.
In the first inning, both starting pitchers made it through without giving up any runs. In the second inning, Nelson continued to look strong, striking out two and retiring the first three batters he faced.
In the bottom frame, the Twisters grabbed the lead, mainly because of pitching control. Yantzer struck out the leadoff batter but hit Brandon Elton with a pitch in the next at-bat. Once on base, Elton put himself in good scoring position with one out.
