The Wilton-Wing Miners softball team wrapped up regular season play this past week, looking to build momentum as they head into the postseason.
Up first for the ladies from Wilton-Wing was a trip down Highway 83 to play the Century High JV team in Bismarck. And while it would prove to be close for most of the game, a big five-run first inning and four errors would prove the Miners’ undoing, as they ended up losing to the Patriots, 7 to 10, in five innings.
Next up, a journey to Mohall to clash with KB-MLS. According to coach Trevor Yetterboe, "The girls came in knowing they needed a win to take third place in the region, and they were all hitting from the first inning and didn’t stop."
The hot hitting was culminated in the fourth inning when Hayle Boechler, whom Yetterboe said "had her best day at the plate," went yard with a grand slam, leading the Miners to a 6 to 18 victory.
