While most teams were taking an extended break from competition over Christmas vacation, the Wilton-Wing Miners were busy preparing for the Mandan Holiday Tournament which took place at the Mandan High School gym on Dec 28-30th. The Miners handily made their way to the championship game with wins over Grant County and Bottineau in the first two rounds of play. However, the Shiloh Skyhawks ended Wilton-Wing’s bid for first place with a final score of 56-64 in the tournament championship. Starting off on Monday, the Miners were dominating in their game with the Grant County Coyotes, easily advancing on the score of 83-31. It was more of the same in the second round against Bottineau, as Wilton-Wing raced off to a 21-point lead after the first quarter, but that margin would be trimmed down to only nine at the half.
