After two clean wins at home, Kidder County Wolves handed the Wilton-Wing Miners a loss on Sept. 12.
Back and forth possessions opened up set one between Miners and Wolves as each team tried to find a groove. Brittany Rath unleashes big hits and making Miners take a timeout at 9-3, Wolves. Miners slid out after a hit from Rath went out only to return the ball right back to the Wolves by doing the same thing. Courtney Seelye dished out some deep serves for the Miners breathing some energy back into the game. Kelsey Backman played the net getting touches on some of the balls the Wolves sent over but the Wolves kept the play alive by capitalizing on points. A few rotations later, Hailey Quam dumped some tips right over the block for the Miners. Wolves would take set one 25-15 after a miss serve attempt from a Miner.
Kiara Johnson sent over a short serve to land an ace to open up the second set. Wolves responded right back. Miners would gain a slight lead thanks to multiple aces in the first half of the game. Again the Wolves would not let the Miners out of their sight coming back to tie at 9-9. Points continued to go back and forth between each slide, Miners with a slight lead at 20-15 before the Wolves take a timeout. The timeout iced the Miners, allowing the Wolves back in, going point for point with each up to 23-23. Miners get touches on two big hits from the Wolves but are unable to play them. Wolves pull off the comeback down the home stretch to win 25-23.
