An animated home crowd set the stage for what began as an intense showdown between Wilton-Wing and Central McLean that eventually saw the Lady Miners pull away
during their 3-0 victory last Thursday.
The first set saw both sides engage in long, dramatic serve and volleys, as the back-andforth
affair ultimately saw the Purple and White rise up at 22-22 and score the last three points to put them over the top. Justus Boos came on strong in the second set. The Miners celebrate after another hard-fought set. Pictured (l-r) are: Jordyn Thorson, Tavi Hirchert, Kesley Backman and Chloe Keplin. The Miners overcame an early 4-1 deficit in the second set largely on the shoulders of their junior frontline hitter Justus Boos, who wouldn’t be denied on her thunderous spike and subsequent tip-in to tie things at 4-4.
