Miners beaten by Holsteins in final home game

One final show in front of the home crowd for the Wilton-Wing Miners last week with the region powerhouse New Salem Holsteins coming to Wilton for the final game before post-season action begins. The home team put on a good show for the BEK TV cameras that were in attendance broadcasting the game, but the Holsteins were too much for the Miners and took the game in three straight sets. New Salem controlled the first set from the onset, staying just ahead of the Miners until the first media time out halted the game at 13-10. Out of that break, New Salem went on a 11-to-3 run and broke the set wide open in their favor. A pair of kills by Alley Heck gave Wilton their first consecutive points of the game, but New Salem needed just one point which they got on the next play, taking the first set 25-16.
