The Wilton-Wing Miners started off last week, looking to solidify their spot in the district.
First up for the Miners, a battle in Center against the Center Stanton Wildcats.
Unfortunately for the ladies from Wilton-Wing, the came out flat against a spurting Wildcat offense, allowing the home team to rush away and seize the match in straight sets.
Miners’ coach Alison Christian stated after play ended, "It was not our best match as we were inconsistent throughout. We will look for a better effort if we end up playing them in the District Tournament."
Christian also reported that "we lost the match originally, but due to a self-reported rule violation, Center-Stanton had to forfeit the match and we got the win."
On Thursday night, the Miners travelled to Washburn, to participate in what is always an exciting and heated rivalry with the host Cardinals.
