The Wilton-Wing Miners could be a team in the mix of things as the season progresses if they can start to reliably string together four quarters a night.
However, when they don’t get that kind of consistency, they end up with a game like their trip to Velva for a game against the Aggies Dec. 17.
An abysmal first quarter left the Miners in a big 14-3 hole that they had to spend the rest of the night attempting to dig their way out of.
Aside from some foul trouble down the stretch, Wilton-Wing picked up their game in the second and played well in the remaining quarters; just not well enough to negate the damage that was done early.
The Miners outscored the Aggies by three points in the second quarter but didn’t gain any ground in the third or fourth.
The end result was a 47-39 loss for Wilton-Wing putting them at 2-3 on the year.
