Development along the north shore of Lake Sakakawea in the Garrison area continues.

At the Nov. 18 meeting of the McLean County Planning and Zoning Commission, Jerry Traub, Bismarck, who owns property east of Garrison, asked approval for a subdivision plat. Traub said he plans to develop a five-lot rural residential subdivision that would be known as Traub Addition. The area is adjacent to N.D. Highway 37.

Duane Hummel, who lives in the vicinity, supports the subdivision, but said he is concerned about the number of possible approaches.

"There’s just a big safety risk and water backup … I’d like to know what the plan is," Hummel said.

Hearing concerns, Traub said he would be open to discussion about the number of approaches, saying he could visit with a surveyor about the matter.

Noting that some tweaking needs to be done, the commission tabled Traub’s request.
