Legion wraps up season

Washburn Legion Post 12 players are hanging up their hats for the year after playing their final game Saturday in Bismarck.
Saturday’s Southwest Regional tournament game between Post 12 and the Hettinger Bears started slow and steady, with a tie score through the first three innings. The game, held at Dwyer Field in Bismarck, started to heat up at the bottom of the fourth, when the opponent went up to bat.
The Bears snuck in a single and the first run of the game, pulled just ahead for a 1-0 lead.
Washburn responded with a run of their own in the fifth, making for a 1-1 tie. Hettinger came back with some fire in the sixth, knocking out a home run and a single to tally up three more runs before the inning was over. Post 12 was unable to make a comeback, and lost their season closer 4-1.
