Legion ball underway

There’s a lot going on with Legion ball this year.
The Legion season will look almost completely different from the high school season. Post 12 will be in a new class and will add players they didn’t have during the high school season.
The first new, big change is the three-class system for Legion ball. The system is similar to AAA, AA and A football in the fall. There are three divisions with most of the bigger towns – Fargo, Bismarck, Minot – being in the AA class.
Head Coach Dirk Hausauer explained the new system in simple and easy to understand terms. "Three separate divisions for sure this year and next year. After next year they may move it back to the old A and B. But right now there is AA – which is the Bismarcks of the world. There are 12 teams that are A and it goes East-West, so there’s six West, six East and everyone else is still B."
Hausauer also explained how the post-season will work. Even though the A Class and B Class state champs are in different state divisions, they are in the same small town Midwest Region class, and will both continue to Milbank, SD in mid-August.
He said, "Every one of them will have their own regional qualifier and every one of them will have their own state tournament. The only time it comes into play differently is once you get past state – like say the B state champ and the A state champ – they will both go to the same regional in Milbank, South Dakota."
