The Lady Miners had lost a step in the race the prior week, losing a big game versus Grant County that took them out of fourth place in the Region 5 standings. The Miners would travel to Standing Rock Tuesday to face the Warriors and then take on the Troopers of Garrison at home. The super region is led by Shiloh Christian, Flasher and Center-Stanton all at 8-1. The Miners sit at 7-4 in fourth place and, if all plays out the same, they will play the fifth-place team in the region on Nov. 7.
The Miners traveled on Oct. 25 to Standing Rock and completely dominate from start to finish beating them handily by 25-11, 25-9 and 25-19. Hayle Boechler led the team with 11 kills and Mckenna Weisenberger had six digs to lead the defensive effort.
Garrison would come to town Oct. 27 in a non-regional game but would be the last home game for the seniors in front of their crowd. All the seniors would be honored before the game with their parents coming on the court which included: Haley Filipek, McKenna Weisenberger, Taylor Ohlhauser, Jayden Ochsner, and Karlee Arnold.
After the honoring of the seniors, the girls would take the court to start the action. McKenna Weisenberger would have a great first set serving. The senior would serve up six straight points and go up by four 11-7. The Miners seemed in control heading into the final points of the game but Garrison made a late comeback tying it up. The momentum swung swiftly and before the girls could recover the Troopers took set one 25-22.
