Lady Miners turn the page

This season has seen its fair share of ups and downs for the Wilton-Wing Miners volleyball team.
The 5-set win versus Garrison earlier in the season was a great sign that the girls had found their identity. But after falling to Center and Flasher, it seemed that the girls hadn’t quite got a handle on where they were headed.
Pull the curtain and hit the lights, when last Thursday night the Lady Miners took the road to take on the Underwood lady Comets, who had been playing great winning their last seven of nine games, and holding a 4-1 record in the Region.
The Miners came to play. There was something in the air as the game began. The look, the attitude, the intensity -- everything looked right.
Underwood would serve to begin the game and immediately side out. The Miners jumped down their throats, going up 5-0 before the Comets knew what hit them. The Comets would call timeout and on the next point got the kill. They pushed on, going up by three and standing at 17-14. Underwood then made a four-point run, taking the lead for the first time in the set, and forcing head coach Alison Smith to call timeout.
