Lady Miners qualify for regional tourney

The blizzard that delayed the final night of the District 10 Tournament in Underwood last week didn’t deter the Miners from their goal to qualify for the Regional tournament. The Miners were pitted against the Garrison-Max Troopers in the final round qualifier and came out the winner, 3-0. The Miners were on fire all night, power hitting from the start. Forty-five assists from senior setter Sally Spitzer put the Miners on the road to victory. Senior Alex Webster had 14 kills, sophomore Kaeley Schatz had 8, and senior Lisa Dewing had 6 kills. The Miners didn’t give much ground against the Troopers. Alanna Smith answered the Trooper offense with 15 digs, Sydney Fox with 13 and Webster with 9 for the night. The win against the Troopers meant the Miners met their goal to qualify for volleyball regionals. "They had a really rough go this season. We’ve had our ups and downs," said Head Coach Stephanie Hochhalter. "It’s really nice to know we could play this kind of game at the end of this season."
