The Wilton-Wing Miners stomped out the Mott-Regent Wildfire on Monday night, continuing their winning streak and leaving them undefeated so far this season.
Mott-Regent stepped onto the Miners’ court and immediately lived up to their fiery mascot, racking up 13 points in the first quarter, most of which came from center Sadie Ambers. Wilton-Wing wasn’t far behind, with 10 points in the first quarter.
The Miners came alive in quarter number two, turning to junior Brooklyn Vollmer to knab a free throw and another six points. The rest of the team came together to score the remaining 11 points in the quarter, bringing the Miners to a lead of 28-22.
The Wildfire’s scoring continued to wane in the second half, scoring only seven points in the third quarter and five in the fourth. Wilton-Wing had scoring coming from a variety of players, grabbing another 14 points in the last two quarters of the game and securing them a win at 44-34.
