Lady Miners honor team

The Wilton-Wing volleyball team held their annual award banquet last week to honor the efforts of this year’s team. Coaches Alison Smith, Jocelyn Bergquist and Carissa Steinert handed out an array of awards to team stats leaders, effort awards and letter winners.
Smith spoke first at the Nov. 23 event, thanking the parents, faculty and staff for their efforts on the season. The Miners had a good season ending up 14-17 and earning the fourth position in region 5.
The seniors were honored first which included; Hailey Filipek, McKenna Weisenberger, Taylor Ohlhauser, Jayden Ochsner and Karlee Arnold.
After an around of applause for the seniors the awards were handed out to each player. Junior setter Taylor Bergquist earned a plethora of awards including ace leader, dig leader, assist leader and team MVP along with an all-region selection.
Sophomore Tara Binstock would dominate the front-line awards with kill leader and blocks.
