The Lady Miners would have to deal with a monumental task of defeating last year’s defending state champion the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks in the first round of the Region 5 tournament.
The Miners opened the game looking intimidated by the Skyhawks prompting head coach Lisa Jenkins to call timeout after a 6-0.
The girls would settle down getting their bearings getting nice baskets from Lauren Koski and Brooklyn Vollmer tying the game up heading into the second 10-10.
The girls would head to the free throw line going, four for four, and Mckenna Weisenberger would have seven first-half points leading the team to a 22-22 tie at the break.
The Miners came out of halftime and jumped on the Skyhawks with a jumper from L. Koski and Weisenberger.
Shiloh would wake up though going on a 17-0, including three three-pointers that stunned the Miners.
