The Miners took a home-field win last week when facing off against the Harvey/Wells County Hornets.
Wilton-Wing would take a quick lead in the first inning, stealing a single run and heading into the second up 1-0.
The Hornets would struggle to score, taking another goose egg in the second. At the bottom of the inning, the Miners would snag one more run, growing the lead to two.
Harvey/Wells County would continue to be stifled by the Miner defense, which kept the Hornets from rounding the bases even a single time during the first four innings. Wilton-Wing would go without a run in the third, but make up for it in the fourth when the girls in purple took three.
Heading into the fifth, the Miners were up 5-0, but the Hornets were hoping to turn the game around. Harvey/Wells County would snag two runs in the inning, closing the gap between the teams. The Miners would fail to score in the inning, heading into the sixth at 5-2.
