The Miners hosted the Cardinals in a close one on April 23, at home where it would come down to the last inning.
The Washburn Cardinals opened up the game with a handful of hits, which lead to quick outs on bases. They were held for zero in the top of the first.
Hannah Fischer would come up to bat for the Lady Miners, landing on first. With Jordan Waldren concentrating on the pitch, Fischer would steal second. Hailey Quam would come up with a big play, running to third and bringing in Fischer for the first run of the game. Taryn Schurhamer made contact with the ball, bringing her to first and Quam also capitalizing on running home for the second run in the first inning. The Cardinals would hold the Lady Miners to two runs, however, as three straight outs followed.
Both sides struck out for the second inning, keeping the same score of 0-2 Wilton-Wing.
