Hazen humiliates the Cardinals

It wasn’t the homecoming first-year head coach Josh Sharp had hoped for. His Washburn boys basketball team took to the hardwood
Monday night against the Hazen Bison. With both teams bringing in 0-1 records, it was expected to be a competitive matchup, but it ended up being a onesided affair. The pace was picked up immediately from the tip as Hazen’s Kaison Kaylor sprinted for a layup but
missed it. The game was, for both sides, an offensive struggle in the first quarter. Turnovers, empty-handed fast break opportunities and
missed shots were the theme early on. In fact, halfway through the opening stanza the Bison and Cardinals had scored a measly four points
a piece. Washburn went into the second quarter down three, but that deficit would grow and grow as Hazen’s offense began to heat up.
