The Washburn-Wilton cross-country team is a successful co-op this year. The team consists of five Wilton runners and six from Washburn. Coach Shayla Sinclair said, “It’s really cool because Wilton has about half the team out so it’s a real co-op.” Sinclair is one of three coaches, joined by Stacy Boeshans and Laura Tweeten. The tri-coaching staff is working together in their second year together. The three coaches were tossed into the season after school started last year and Boeshans said, “We feel good going into it this year. We are just more organized and we have a plan.” The team has several strong leaders this year. The two seniors, Kelcie Beckman and Justin Breding are all competitive runners but, “They are kind of new seniors,” said Sinclair. Beckman ran when she was younger and Breding only competed in the state meet last year.
