Few achievements in sports are as memorable as a nohitter — except when your team is on the receiving end of the remarkable pitching feat.
Kip Erickson’s WWCS Cardinals were served with a heaping scoop of humble pie in Game 1 of an Apr. 10 home-field triangular, as the Ray Jays trounced the Red and White 6-0, led by starting pitchers Lane Veach and Jace Nelson.
Two first-inning pop-ups by Alex Retterath and Landyn Miller, stranding the lone base runner, set the tone for a toothless offense in a relatively close and fast-paced contest.
