Cowboys overcome Roughriders

Going into Friday night’s home opener, the Southern McLean Roughriders knew that they would face a tough task in hosting a deep and tested Killdeer Cowboy squad.
Killdeer’s experience in big game situations paid off, as the Cowboy’s came out firing on all cylinders, and put up 22 points on the home team in the first quarter alone.
In the second quarter, the Roughriders would manage to mute the scoring barrage ever so slightly, holding Killdeer to two additional scores.
Unfortunately, Southern McLean’s offense was stuck in neutral, and the Roughriders would go in to halftime down by a score of 36-to-0.
Both defenses came out stout in quarter number three, with neither team able to put up any points.
Killdeer would add an insurance score in the fourth, and the Roughriders would finally breakthrough in the game’s closing moments as Dylan Williams would haul in a touchdown pass with two seconds remaining.
