Cowboys lasso the Cards

Killdeer’s 56-50 victory over the hometeam Cardinals saw the Red and White valiantly battle back from multiple deficits, but never mustered enough offense to overtake the adversary in the Dec. 20 contest.
Jeff Brandt’s crew was playing catch-up from the outset, as 6-foot-3 forward Owen Schleppenbach (13 points) posed as a formidable threat underneath for a Washburn team that struggled mightily on the defensive boards throughout the first half.
Of fensively, the Cards relied on the exploits of guard Dylan Eckel (16 points) to keep up with the Cowboys not only as a scorer, but in the role of facilitator as well.
