Cards stung by Hornets

Washburn’s last regularseason home game delivered its share of thrills and spills versus a 13-3 Harvey squad, but the local boys fell short of sealing the deal in their 66-56 loss last Thursday.
Hopes were high for an enthusiastic home crowd during the Feb. 17 affair, with the Cards jumping out to a 14-13 advantage in the first quarter thanks to the exploits of Dylan Eckel (13 points) and Parker Jacobson, who poured in a season-high 17 points.
While Eckel was twisting, turning and banging inside, young Jacobson was stroking 3-balls with the accuracy of a cold-blooded sniper. But it was Alex Retterath who put the Cards ahead going into the
second frame by outquicking Harvey opponents on a defensive rebound and closerange finish.
