Cards rise and shine in season opener

Washburn’s guard-heavy starting lineup — and roster for that matter — dazzled the diehards with a high volume of shots during their 55-47 home win over Parshall in a Saturday matinee.
Leading the charge in hoisting up shot attempts was leading scorer Alex Retterath, who recorded seven total buckets — including two 3-pointers — in a game where the opponents were mostly just as aggressive in looking for offense in the Dec. 11 affair.
Braves point guard Lawrence Polanco (16 points) was a constant threat by forcing the act ion and attacking the defense with an array of shots of both the wild and quality variety.
