Cardinals spend week at home

The Center Wildcats were able to control most of the first set of the Cardinals’ second home game of the week. They were able to give themselves a cushion that Washburn couldn’t push through. They continued to battle to the end, but Center would finish ahead 25-10.
Both the second and third sets occurred similarly to the first, with the Cardinals fighting for every point they received. Senior Kiara Strickland served an ace in the second set, one of the points Washburn had to work for. They battled back and forth for both sets, but Center won 25-12 in the second and 25-10 in the third, ending the game with three wins to Washburn’s zero.
Washburn’s first home game of the week was against the Flasher Bulldogs. The Cardinal’s couldn’t get into a rhythm in the beginning of the game, and Flasher used that to give themselves an early eleven-point lead. The sets and bumps were being made, but the spikes just wouldn’t go over the net. It wasn’t until setter Olivia Retterath strategically placed a tip over the net that the Cardinals received their first point of the set.
The Cardinals began to battle back after a timeout, and they began to slowly work towards closing the gap. However, they were too late, and Flasher was able to finish off the set 25-8.
