The Washburn Cardinals softball team started their season out with a win Monday, taking down the Beulah Miners in five innings.
The Miners and Cardinals met in Minot Monday for a season opener, which started slowly with a 0-0 score heading into the second.
Beulah would score a pair of runs in the second on some wild pitches and walks, taking a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the inning.
Cardinal Gracey Russell would head to first base after being hit by a pitch, and get a free trip to second after a wild pitch. Russell would steal third, and then find her way home after another wild pitch, earning Washburn its first run of the game.
