Cardinals clinch first win of the season

Washburn boys had extra reason to celebrate this week as they brought home their first victory of the 2022-23 season. The Cardinals had a tough fight against Central McLean on Jan. 3 as Washburn fought for an overdue win. Washburn kicked off the game with a three-point lead that would remain loosely in place through the first half, which ended with the Cardinals up 28-26. Central McLean would tally
12 in the third quarter but be no match for Washburn scoring as the Cardinals put some distance between the teams. Washburn earned 22 more points in the third to head into the final quarter up 50-38.
