The Cardinal boys had a shaky opener on Monday night, taking a tough loss to the Kidder County Wolves.
Washburn boys hit the court for the first time this season on Monday, set up to do battle on their home court. The Cardinals tallied ten points in the first quarter, but were left in the dust by Kidder County, who racked up five three-pointers and thirty points total.
Down by twenty at the start of the second, Washburn looked for opportunities to maximize every shot. Dylan Williams and Coltan Hyttinen would each make a three-pointer for the Cardinals, contributing to the 18 points scored by the team in quarter two. The effort would close things up just slightly, as the Wolves managed 16 of their own.
Already up 46-28, Kidder County wasn’t looking to slow down in the third, taking another 19 points, with three three-pointers from Austin Schmidt. Tate Bertolotto and Matthew Leidholm would each make a three for Washburn, which would make 15 points in the quarter. At the end of the third, the Cardinals would be down 65-43.
