The Bowman County Bulldogs drove up to rainy Washburn for the Southern McLean Homecoming game on Friday.
Senior Dylan Williams started off the game with a kickoff for 13 yards. The Bulldogs fought through Roughrider defense with strong running, but wouldn’t be enough for a first down, leading to a punt. The Roughriders followed in the Bulldogs’ footsteps with aggressive running attempts, but would end up punting as well.
Bowman County would struggle to start their second possession, but after a false start would throw a 17-yard pass for the touchdown. The point after kick attempt was no good, leaving the score at 0-6.
Williams would start the Roughriders off with a pass to fellow senior Colton Eckel for 16 yards. The Roughriders weren’t able to advance any further after two incomplete passes, and senior Logan Schmitz would punt.
The Bulldogs started off with a chop block penalty, setting them back 15 yards. They quickly made the loss up, and a pass for 21 yards followed by a run for 32 yards set them close to a touchdown. They would not be able to score, and the Roughriders did all they could to put space between the Bulldogs and a second touchdown, ending the first quarter.
