Wilton-Wing headed to Heart River riding their wave of great pitching and defense. The wave’s name was Tonya Dickson. The senior has been stellar, and on Monday was rewarded with her fourth win of the season.
The game began with a hitless first inning. Heart River bats came alive in the second, scoring four runs on two hits with two walks. Wilton was stymied by the pitching of HR up until the fourth, which was a pivotal inning.
Down 5-0, Wilton-Wing’s bats came alive on a clutch double by McKenna Weisenburger that cleared the bases. HR would get two more runs and were threatening again when Jade Koski and Weisenburger turned a double play. With that momentum shift, Dickson then got in her groove only allowing 2 hits the rest of the game.
The Miners would then score three runs in consecutive innings pouring it on in the second half of the game.
