Athletes honored

Winter sports athletes enjoyed a dinner with their teammates and loved ones Monday before taking home awards for basketball and volleyball.
This year’s winter Cardinals sports banquet was held Monday at the commons of Washburn High School, with dinner served by the school’s kitchen staff. Athletes, coaches and family members enjoyed a french dip dinner before awards were presented.
Coaches for volleyball and basketball presented individual awards for this year’s athletes. For volleyball, coach Chad Oberlander selected Breah Philbrick and Dani Wood for the Spirit award. Most Improved was given to Kiara Strickland, and Emily Russell took home the Hustle award. Oberlander named the team’s MVP as McKenzie Baumann.
