Winter concert canceled

Three local musicians set to perform with the Missouri River Community Band this week stayed home Tuesday after a storm canceled the Winter concert.
The Missouri River Community Band had planned its Winter Concert for Tuesday at Century High School in Bismarck, with musicians from Bismarck, Mandan and surrounding cities coming together to perform. But blizzard conditions and dangerous, or completely closed, roadways canceled the event.
Two musicians from Washburn and one from Wilton were among those set to perform in the band Tuesday. Dustin Moe, a trumpet player who lives in Wilton and teaches in Washburn, is part of the group, along with Washburn residents Jamie Sailer, who plays clarinet, and Dwight Enockson, on the tenor saxophone.
The concert was to serve partly as a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which took place Dec.7, 1941.
Sailer, who is taking part in the band for the second year, said the dedication was helping to motivate the musicians. “It really gave a sense of purpose to the work we did preparing for this concert,” Sailer said. “I’m honored to be a part of something that is paying tribute to those who sacrificed for our country.”
