Wing girl Competes at Winter show competition

One Wing student with a passion for horse riding represented her home town at this year’s North Dakota Winter Show. Haley Vollmer, a senior at Wing Public School, traveled
to Valley City this March to compete with North Dakota and Minnesota contestants in the Battle of the Border. Each state brings six contestants for each of ten events.
Haley would take the win for both breakaway roping and goat tying, contributing to North Dakota’s seven total event wins. Minnesota would bring home two, with one event not having any qualifiers. It was far from the first competition for Ha ley, who had been competing in rodeo since she was a toddler. “M y p a r e n t s t aught me how to ride
horses and I b e g a n learning and competing within different rodeo associations as I grew,” Haley said. Haley said her favorite rodeo memory to date is competing at the National
High School Finals Rodeo.
