Wilton-Wing rallies past LHMB to stay unbeaten
Top-ranked Wilton-Wing got all it could handle from Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock, but the Miners closed out the game with a 19-3 run on the way to a 78-68 win over the Lions, Feb. 4, in Wilton.
The Miners, who have topped the Class B Boys Basketball Poll since mid-December, stayed unbeaten and improved to 16-0, while LHMB had its three-game win streak snapped and fell to 9-5.
After trailing early, WW went on a 13-5 run over a three and a half minute stretch, and Hunter Wolff’s three-point play at the 1:55 mark of the first quarter gave the Miners a 17-10 lead. After Kashton Moser put back an offensive board for a field goal on LHMB’s ensuing trip, WW got back-to-back field goals from Teigen Earsley and Bradon Wallace to open up a 21-12 advantage by the end of the quarter.
